Museum visit
This art work was displayed at the Joslyn museum and is untitled. This is a mixed media piece and is made up of wax, silk flowers, tassels from a cloak, and velvet which is creating a person like figure.
I like this piece because it is not an everyday piece of art work. I like that it has an abstract feel to it but at the same time you can tell what it is. Although the creator has a meaning behind it of life and death, spiritual, and a growth and decay it is a piece that I almost feel doesn’t really need a meaning and can stand on its own. I think this would be something neat to have at home walking through a garden.
This piece of work is called The Omaha Riverscape and is on the outside of The Joslyn Museum. This includes Granite and water installation with academy black granite reflecting pool. There are three column fountains of mountain red, carnelian, and Dakota mahogany granite.
I really like this piece because I like outdoor décor and I think this is not something that you see often around Omaha and is unique. In the water there is a path way under the water that zig zags from one end to the other and then comes out onto the side walk making a path of water.
The spirit of dance done in bronze in 1932. This was Lent by the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
I really like this piece because she is graceful looking but strong at the same time. I like how she doesn’t have a lot of detail but just enough to stand out. This is a lot like how I do my works in clay.

For my finally project I will be making a night light. I will be in the shape of a cookie jar and on the out side will have different kinds of mythical creatures. There will be a fairy that is crawling into it with the lib up and a dragon. I think there will be some kind of bird on the top like a pheonix. Then so the light shines through it will have holes all around the outside evenly places. On the bottom there will be a hole carved out with the light will pinch into place and an indention where the cord will run so it can sit flat. I have had this idea since the class started and am very excited about it....pictures to come.
#5 Carving
For our 5th project we were to carve something in any kind of material of our choise. I did not however carve this. I started to and got the basic head shape but then decided I wanted this to be something more that i could not do by carving. In the end I was very happy with the result and now have this very awsome dragon. This so far was my favorit piece.

#3 Clay Hand Replica
My project is going to be building a replica of my hand in clay. I want to try and do something with meaning that is a part of my life like playing softball, taking pictures or even something done everyday like waving goodbye. I am going to start with the palm of the hand and work my way out using the pinch method and possibly coils for the fingers.
